HAVANESE
Truly - pulled
BOOTY - 4th in her class
SELENA - SELECT - Dave had another professional handler show Selena.  Carol presented her impeccably.  We knew that Mrs. Stacy wouldn't put up Dave for the breed, but we will never have to worry about showing to her again.  Tomorrow JS has Bichons, but if Dave can't get someone else to show Nurple, he won't be shown to her.

Congratulations to friend Pamela Cunningham for going Best of Winners and picking up a major on her boy!

Judge Jackie Stacy
Well we entered today hoping for a judge change, and while Mrs. Stacy did have several changes for her breeds, the Havanese was not one of them.  Dave stayed on Booty, hoping against hope, to finish her today.

The Open Bitch shown by Harry Bennett's assistant/partner/friend/whatever was the last bitch in the class.  He was allowed to go out of catalog order at his request.  All bitches in the Open Class has been examined, and the 'down & back' started with this bitch when Harry came running up and said that he 'needed' to show this dog.  Mrs. Stacy allowed the change. Harry completed the down & back and the final go-round, on to Winners Bitch.  Talk about pushing the limits.  Remember when the rule was 'once the dog had been examined by the judge, no changes'  Well it's no longer a rule, it's a 'Policy' and this is what it is now, from the AKC Rules, Policies and Guidelines for Conformation Dog Show Judges:
[P] Change of Handlers A single change of handler on
a dog is permitted at the judge’s discretion up until
the time all dogs in the class have been individually
examined and individually gaited. After that, no
change of exhibitor is allowed.

Kind of sucks...

BICHONS
NURPLE - Best of Opposite - (3 GCH pts)

While I would love for Nurple to have taken the breed, BOS to this beautiful bitch will have to do.  It is a tough line up for specials in the Bichon ring this week.  Wish we had a backer for him so we could do some advertising.  Any takers?

Thank You Judge James Ham

CONGRATULATIONS LAURA WARMAN !!!

Laura is a dear friend who has been our helper, then assistant for several years now.  We met her while she was working as a vet tech at the vet clinic we used to go to.

Last year, Laura passed her Federal Funeral Director boards, and now that her 1 year apprenticeship is up, she passed the interview and written test for the Kansas State Board Certification.  She has been working hard with her studies and apprenticeship, and now it is all official.  A Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer.

Now if she can just get the funeral home that she works for to pay her more than the guy with a GED who runs errands for the boss, but generally plays games on the computers that the others are trying to use for business.  (Hmmm, wonder what he has on the boss?)  Laura has a college degree, Federal and State board certification, and is one of only two people in the entire staff who can embalm.  You think they'd want to hang on to her.  The other embalmer definitely doesn't want her to leave or he will be stuck doing it all himself.

I have flashbacks to working for the government when she tells me some of the stories.  I hope she finds an employer who appreciates her talents, and will adequately compensate her for them.

CONGRATULATIONS LAURA, AND ALL THE BEST!!!

Dudley - Poor Dudley was filler dog.  Trying to build points for our breeders other dogs.  It kills me to see him lose though.  They got the points on their bitch though, because she took the breed.  The dog that won was BOS, looked like a PBGV, and moved around with the correct topline...for a Havanese.  High in the rear.  But the handler shows a Hav with a level topline, so I guess she got confused.  This imported GBGV has done little or no winning in his home country, but he is an import so must be great right...not.  Some of those breeders won't send their best dogs across the pond, only the ones that they can't place in their home country.  I guess they are trying to take advantage of the fact that most judges don't know what one is supposed to look like so will go with the ever frustrating...'let's put up a handler we know.'

Judge Jeffrey Pepper - he knows PBGVs, maybe that's why he liked this one.

We would only send our best to another country, because it is the reputation of your bloodlines on the line.  Things that make you go "hmmm."
