BLACK RUSSIAN TERRIER
VARIAS - Best of Opposite
Varias was being very bad!  I think he watched the Tibetan Mastiff, or was it the Leonberger, in groups at the Garden, trying to eat his handler's coat pocket during the down and back and go-round.

Thank You (I think) Breed Judge Troy Dargin
Group Judge Keke Kahn

Dave could have just about stayed home today.
Our original Havanese breed Judge was Keke Kahn.
We had a judge change to Troy Dargin.
We pulled Midas as we knew he wasn't Mr. Dargin's type, dare I say, maybe we were wrong?
We kept the girls entered, Bunny in BBE, and Taffy in BOB.  Dargin should love both girls.  Bunny has an awesome ADULT coat, Taffy's is beautiful and changing from puppy to adult.  SO…I don't know if it was during the BBE class or during Winners Bitch, he checked the standard.  Bunny wins the BBE class and then the major.  Dargin says, yes says out loud, he doesn't like her coat.  THEN WHY GIVE HER THE MAJOR, OR ANY WIN AT ALL?  There was an entry of 10 bitches, plenty more to choose from.  If you don't like her, don't do me any favors!  Or were you saying you like the other nine even less?  Slap in the face to good dogs, no matter how you look at it.

Now that I have re-read the previous paragraph, it really doesn't matter if he LIKES her coat, the question is this:
"Is it correct by the standard?"

So, I am going with this from my heart:  Although Mr. Dargin did not personally like Bunny's coat, he judged to the standard and put up the most deserving bitch.  THANK YOU.

But I have to finish this from the heart:

OK, I don't feel much better, but have deleted the rest of what I typed.  Got it off my chest, but not ready to go there in public.

Still love you Troy.

Consideration for other exhibitors. Des Moines, IA Saturday February 20, 2016

Lacking at the Des Moines show….

How come people are only sticklers about parking when I park over a line, or don't pull in far enough?

For anyone who has been to the Des Moines, Iowa show, while it is at a fairgrounds, it is basically street parking.  There is a lot adjacent to the west end of the building where RVs, vehicles with trailers, and also passenger vehicles park.

When I dropped Dave off after lunch on Saturday, February 20, I saw this van and trailer righ parallel parked across diagonal pull-in spaces right across from one set of doors to the grooming area.  After Dave went in, this just bugged the heck out of me, so I dug the camera out.  As you can see the diagonals are full as far as the eye can see, so these people have probably been in these spaces all day.

WAY TO GO PEOPLE!!!

NICE WAY TO BE CONSIDERATE OF OTHER EXHIBITORS!!!

Is Facebook Advertising? OF COURSE IT IS!!!!

We received the following comment on one of our recent puppy picture posts:
‘Facebook is not the place to place dogs!!!’

To the comment maker, that I do not know:
You are entitled to your opinion.  If you had a problem directly with me, or my post, you should have sent me a private message.  Because you chose to post your comment to/about my posts publicly, you left me with two choices:  1.  Respond publicly, and acknowledge that I actually saw your comment.  2.  Ignore it.   And I rarely ignore the first comment, if I see it, but I will not get into a pissing contest.

Contrary to the way some people behave on facebook, it is not the place to air private disagreements.

Since most people who sell puppies, have to meet the purchasers somewhere, and people who buy puppies have to find them somewhere, where would you suggest?  The AKC website?  Your own private website - aided by Google ad words? A magazine?  Word of mouth through friends? - aka FACEBOOK!

OR...Would you rather they strolled through the mall and bought one at the local Pet Store?  Maybe the parking lot of the local Walmart?

Just because someone contacts me about a puppy of mine they saw on facebook, does NOT mean that they will get to buy that, or any puppy, from me.  Ask anyone who has, it’s not an easy process, as this is not just a ‘puppy sale’ it is a lifetime placement, and the puppy they want, may not be the best match for them.  It might be a puppy, or adult, that a friend has.  And without my facebook post, they would have not made the connection with another breeder who can actually add the right member to their family.

Is letting people know that you have puppies available any more of desire to ‘get your message out’ than posting pictures of your dogs and their current wins to make sure that the judge you have next week sees it?  Or to show off to people who may want to breed to your dog, so that they see that he has done even more winning?

Showing off our puppies, advertising a dog at stud, and bragging about our wins is something that is done on Facebook, in magazines - whether in a feature article or a paid advertisement, and on websites, including the American and Canadian Kennel Club websites.

While you are entitled to your opinion, if you had a problem directly with me, you should have sent me a private message.  Because you chose to post your comment to/about my posts publicly, you left me with two choices:  1.  Respond publicly, and acknowledge that I actually saw your comment.  2.  Ignore it.
