Manitoba Canine Association, Thursday August 14, 2014

Well, we finally made it to East Saint Paul, Manitoba (Winnipeg suburb) at 2:30 AM Thursday morning.  Still had 6 Havanese and 1 Bichon to groom.  It's always something when it's the first trip in a new vehicle.  LONG story so will save that for later.

Our phones don't work in Canada and were too far from town to walk to find a Timmy's for wifi, so were incommunicado from Wednesday night through Monday.  Dave's phone stayed in Canada so he was off the grid until afternoon when we stopped to get him a new phone and transfer his service over.

We were hoping that Nurple wouldn't need a bath before the ring.  He still looked great from his Group 1 the Sunday before, and that would save some time.  That was until we stopped to potty dogs along the way and thought "the gravel here looks good."  Famous last words.  We put up the pens, put the dogs out and I no sooner turned my back to scoop some poop and he dug the gravel out and was rolling in the gray dust and muck that was on the plastic groundcover under the river rock!  So much for keeping him clean. - or we could have went with a 'new style' - the silver Bichon!

So 2 hours of sleep and much grooming later:

Winnipeg in the summer 90 degrees and HUMID, who knew?
The electric hook-up for the motorhome wasn't cheap and was only 15 amp, so wouldn't even run one of our air conditioners, so we ended up running the generator all day.  It cooled enough most nights to turn it off then, so that helped $$ a bit.

Only one show on Thursday.  2 on Friday.  3 shows, plus 3 sweepstakes on Saturday. 1 show on Sunday.

Time to half-hearted offer to help Dave groom for the Toy Specialty this afternoon.  Wish us luck!  More results to follow!
