Congrats on being owner handled to the win, but I must say that I am disappointed in the breeding and 'breeder' that produced this dog and with the people that would have bought a dog produced under these circumstances.
Looking at the OFFA certifications of the parents:
Sire: CH Prairiwind's Caffe Con Leche: TR78339501 DOB: 08-18-2008 At least he was old enough to be bred. He had his patellas done at 12 months, but no heart which can be done at the same time, Hips at 27 months, but no elbows, and CERF.
Oh, yeah, and the all-important Legg-Calve-Perthes (if you pass hips you get this - if you don't have your LCP posted on your dog's OFA they have a form for that.)
Dam: Kimbriel's Mistress of Riverhill. DOB: 11-25-2010 This means that the bitch was just 12 months old when she was bred! Reputable breeders don't breed puppies to make more puppies!
Her patellas were done at 27 months, her CERF at 17 months, and her BAER at 8 months. She has ZERO points towards an AKC Championship. Where are the heart, hips, and elbows certifications? I understand that sometimes things happen, but there has still been plenty of time to have her remaining testing done. Her parents appear to be imports, with the sire having some testing but NOT HIPS. The dam's information could not be located in the OFFA website. If this bitch has had her remaining testing done and you chose to not post them, why, what did you have to hide?
But that still doesn't excuse breeding a puppy. According to the breeder's website (see insert below) this litter is against all of the testing she says that she does. As a Breeder of Merit with the AKC, she has broken that pledge as well. It goes to show that no matter how pretty a website might be, as a puppy buyer, you must still do your homework.
I love Bill and Paula dearly, but do question this purchase. They are intelligent people and they should know enough by now, to know that this was not an ethical breeding.
It's just like people who buy from a puppy mill, thinking that they will 'save' a dog. Yes, that one is out, but how many more has your money enabled that person to breed?
